Thrush;
The statement “I actually like a reason to fight beyond they are standing over there.” was mine. I think a goal to accomplish by fighting makes the fighting more fun, all the better if the goal persists beyond a single lay on. It does not mean I don't want their to be lots of fighting.

Re: Archery alteration proposal
If your weapon is struck and you did NOT place your weapons(including a hand holding a weapon) to act as a deflection point then and only then you are to take the wound as if your weapon was not there to deflect the arrow, using proper judgement. A rare case, but how would we handle, currently and ...

Re: Monk Unarmed Ability Change
I don't like the idea of somebody stumbling or fumbling and dropping a bar being injured even though not in combat. I saw it happen a couple of times at Bellum where a monk dropped their bar outside of combat. Heck I have seen, and done myself, folk drop a weapon while sheathing it. It would be stup...

Re: (POLL) How does distance effect your campout attendance?
I generally will only drive about an hour to an hour and a half absent a really good reason. A good campout with an adventure is a really good reason. A day of just two sides less so.

Coming election
So the event announcement for May 4th says: Spring Tourney (Board Elections Held) May 4 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm elections for President and VP of DWG, Inc will be held. Who is running for President and Vice President of the club? I see that there is an election coming up but do not know who is running.

Re: Giant Size Change AKA Kneeling is terrible
From a safety stand point alone eliminating kneeling makes sense. I do not have sufficient experience with Darkon to comment on game balance as it relates to giants I do know that for some folk the condition of their knees means a requirement to kneel equals a giant that simply can not be fought saf...

Been thinking about costuming for the longer term and went looking for guidance in the current rules. I find this statement: Costuming for Darkon should be inspired by pre-industrial historical clothing or fantasy genre clothing. I am curious what the generally accepted understanding specifically wi...

I had a conversation today with the park today. The acting director asked me to get the word out that no wood, not even local Maryland wood, should be brought into the park under any circumstances. They are fighting the good fight against the emerald ash borer beetle and winning so far and do not wa...

Thank you for demonstrating my point that ill defined terms lead to miscommunication. Since you do not wish to engage in a civil discussion we will have to agree to disagree on the necessity of well written comprehensive documentation. It might be superfluous in your life experience, in my experienc...

Re: I WANT YOUR SILVER!!
I have read the rules. I made the mistaken assumption that since you specified "darkon gold" but only "silver coin" that maybe you meant something other than darkon silver coins. Having never actually seen any member flash a coin I have no idea how common they actually are, but t...

Re: Campfires at Bellum
The first quote is the general Darkon campout policy, as stated here: m The second is an old post from 2012, updated in 2013, specific to camping at Patuxent River Park. Yes, I am leaving with it again. The structure keeps the bottom of the stone (concrete pavers actually) 9 inches above the ground,...

Campfires at Bellum
I see the policy stated thusly in part: Campfires All campfires must be contained within a fire pit. Fire pits must be dug at least 8 inches deep or deeper if necessary to create an appropriate depth to accommodate their size. Fire pits must be ringed with large stones, bricks, or cinderblocks. Gras...

OK, you have piqued my curiosity. I am guessing you don't mean actual bullion silver coins (US coinage prior to 1965 for example) so what do you mean?

Try coming out for a bit before trying to change the rules. I have come out a bit, if being a new regular since November meets your undefined term. The point of course is that I am not trying to change the rules, but rather I am trying to get the Printed Rules to reflect the generally accepted unwr...

Re: Paint over Plasti Dip
Clearly it does not go without saying else I would not have asked the questions I asked. The rule book often makes mention of what something must be made of, but only in some places says what the outer layer must be. Let me turn it around - what CAN'T be used as a layer outside of cloth or Plasti di...

Thank you for the quick response. Is this one of those common accepted practice things or has there been an official ruling somewhere? What is the process for getting this made explicit in the next edition of the rule book?

Paint over Plasti Dip
Is is Darkon legal to put a coat of paint over Plasti Dip on a shield? The current 2014 rule book just says All shields must have a cloth or Plasti Dip®. [sic] I presume there is supposed to be a "cover" at the end of that sentence that was omitted. I am trying to figure out if Plasti Dip ...
