As a newbie...
As a newbie...
I'm considering getting into the LARPing way of life. And have done the foam fighting thing in the past with pool-noodles on sticks. During that time, I found myself most effective with a one-hand weapon and shield combo. So (in the round-about method I have chosen to ask my question) Would I be allowed to use a buckler during my first few events?

As long as the sheild (what ever type it is) is made to our specs then yes - as a new player (1st 5 events) you just can not use armor / two handed weapons / or a bow.

A'ight. Cool. It's a shame that I just realized you guys are apparently on the east-coast, otherwise I'd be eager to start preparations now.

The Darkon documentary is and was not a normal event it was staged therefore do not worry about what was or was not a real shot.
Feel free to come out - people take there hits.. the hits will be explained clearly - and any people that do not take their hits we have a system in place to take care of that.

Thats reassuring because the Documentary made people who play Darkon look like lunatics. And are you only on the East Coast?

We have different classes of armor as well, so a guy in plate will take more shots than someone in leather.
